Welcome! I am an incoming Assistant Professor of Politics at Mount Holyoke College. Previously, I worked as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Bridgewater State University. I have also recently served as the Research Director of the Military Intervention Project (MIP) within the Center for Strategic Studies, The Fletcher School at Tufts University. I remain engaged with this exciting initiative as a non-residential fellow.
My research on violent intrastate conflict, humanitarian military interventions, and the gendered effects of economic crises has been published in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Foreign Affairs, International Affairs, International Relations, Comparative European Politics, European Security, International Labour Review, World Affairs, Mediterranean Quarterly, the Washington Post’s Monkey Cage, and more. My first book Dying by the Sword (2023, Oxford University Press) introduces new empirical trends of US military interventions from 1776 to 2019. My second book, From Kosovo to Darfur: The Regional Biases within Humanitarian Military Interventionism (2025, University of Michigan Press), investigates the regional selectivity gaps of humanitarian military interventions. Learn more about my research here.
I received my PhD in Political Science from Northeastern University, where I also taught a wide range of courses for over 5 years, even winning an Outstanding Teaching Award. I now teach courses on International Relations, Quantitative Methods, US Foreign Policy, and more at Mount Holyoke College. Previously, I taught at Bridgewater State University for 5 years. I truly love teaching. Take a look at my teaching portfolio here.
I am both a quantitative scholar and a field researcher, combining causal modeling, archival data, and field work data to reach nuanced and generalizable conclusions. My policy-relevant research often catches the attention of the media. Check out my media appearances here.
